PPC Fabrication makes stainless steel rubboards - also called a frottoir or a scrubboard - for cajun and zydeco musicians. We offer full-size, child-size, and mini boards.

All PPC frottoirs have closely spaced 3/8" ribs (compared to more common 1/2" spacing) for a smooth and responsive playing feel. Our bead-rolled models add reinforced shoulder straps that hold their shape and help keep the board securely in place while you play. Also, custom bead rolled designs are available such at the diamond pleats. I'm constantly developing new ideas and designs that aren't currently available anywhere else!

Mostly! To keep the prices low and ensure perfect and safe edges every time, my blanks are cut out using a water jet. Bur removal, grinding and polishing of the edges are all done by hand. The corrugations and final forming are also done by hand!

No. We make full-size, child-size, and mini stainless-steel frottoirs. The full-size and child-size boards are worn over the shoulders; the mini hangs from a paracord neck strap.

Our full-size rubboards are available in 24 gauge and 22 gauge. (Currently only 24 gauge is listed here. Contact me at sales@ppcfabrication.com about full-size 24g boards) Minis and child-size are 24 gauge. All boards come with a brushed finish.

20 gauge YES, 18 gauge NO. I can do 20 gauge, but I don't stock the material. So, there is a waiting period of a couple weeks and an extra fee for the thicker material and the shop minimums with my supplier. Possibly in the future, if I start selling enough of them, that could change. As for 18 gauge, my brake dies are not capable of that thickness.

Yes. Every PPC rubboard includes a pair of strikers. Full-size and child-size boards come with handled strikers, while minis include bent-wire strikers. Both styles are made from 1/8" stainless rod.

There’s no difference—frottoir, rubboard, scrubboard, and washboard are different names used for the same instrument.
